Victorious Championship Team
Three tight and physical intra-club matches were contested Monday 2nd March at the Bundoora Netball and Sports Centre, for the prestigious Blaze Cup.
A small but vocal crowd of loyal family, friends and Blaze supporters cheered on the three teams as the preseason phase officially came to an end in a "Blaze Cup Glory". All teams are now well prepared for the coming 2009 Holden Cruze Cup, Victorian Netball League.
Match 1:

The 19&Under team elected to take a five goal advantage into the match against the Championship team and for the first half were well in contention to start the night with a major upset. The 19&Under team continued to back themselves throughout the match, taking risks in both attack and defense, with some spectacular athletic displays. However, a consistent second half by the Championship girls saw them hamper the attack and enthusiasm of the 19&Under combination and pull away to take out this match.

In a fierce contest, which the 19&Under team courageously started from scratch, the Division 1 team snuck away to a half time lead with accurate shooting and great defensive turnovers. A highly motivated 19&Under team returned after the half time break for their final Blaze Cup quarter, throwing everything at the Division 1 team. Winning the second half by one goal and physically taking it up to the Division 1 team, the 19&Under team were not able to defeat the calm and steady play of their opponents, Division 1 winning with confidence in the end.

The deciding match of the Blaze Cup, started from scratch with both sides were ready to rumble. The Championship team having to come back on court after a 30 minute break took full advantage of their rest and ran away to a six goal lead at half time. The Division 1 team were intense during the half time break, and committing themselves fully to the contest, took the second half honours by two goals, but it wasn't enough to bridge the gap, with the Championship team steadying to take the crucial points.
