Round 3 of the VNL Preseason competition pitted the Blaze Championship and Division One teams against Round 1 opponents VU Western Lightning, as a preview of what may be to come for both sides. The Championship match was a closely fought affair with some fantastic attacking and defensive play on show. The Blaze Division One side struggled to convert possession across the match, allowing Lightning to find and keep their rhythm.
The 19&Under side came up against 2009 VNL 19&Under premiers Hume City Falcons, in a fiercely contested battle between northern neighbours, the Blaze lineup just lapsed for small sections of the match, allowing Falcons to cross the line winners.
Round 3 Preseason Results - Wednesday 17th February 2010:
- CHAMP VU WESTERN LIGHTNING 59 defeated BLAZE 51
- DIV 1 VU WESTERN LIGHTNING 52 defeated BLAZE 24
- 19&U HUME CITY FALCONS 38 defeated BLAZE 31
